Acne is one of the most disturbing issues faced by individuals.
It is now considered a chronic disease and can have severe psychological effects. In fact, it affects a person’s self-confidence.
It should be treated at the earliest to prevent the formation of acne scars.
What is Acne?
Our skin has various oil glands, also called sebaceous glands. Think of these glands as small bags that keep producing oil. Once the oil (sebum) accumulates, it shows on the surface as acne. Bacterial infections can develop in these sebum-containing bags, leading to the pus and redness you see in acne. Acne is a medical term; generally, it refers to pimples. This is when it becomes painful and an acne solution or pimple solution is needed.
Types of Acne
- Blackheads are small bumps on your skin caused by clogged hair follicles and appear black.
- Whiteheads form when dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria become trapped within one of your pores and appear white.
- Papules are hard, clogged pores that are painful to touch, and the skin appears pink.
- Pustules are pus-filled pores with a yellow and white head on top, and the skin appears red and painful.
- Nodules appear deeper in the skin, can be painful, and appear round lumps.
- Cysts are sac-like structures that occur deeper in the skin.
